Dr. Schattmann has a particular interest and advanced training in the treatment of anxiety disorders and insomnia. However, she also works with a wide range of problems, including depression, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders (obsessive-compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, hair pulling, and skin picking), health anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, grief, and anger management. She works with adults 19 years and older.
Dr. Schattmann's main therapeutic approach is Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), although she incorporates aspects of other approaches, such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) when appropriate. Dr. Schattmann has specialized training in CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I), which is a brief but highly effective treatment for insomnia and the sleep difficulties associated with some disorders like depression, generalized anxiety disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
